Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve decided to make a list of Frequently Asked Questions because I’ve been receiving a couple of notes and comments asking the same questions. I hope you guys would take the time to read this~

1. Do you draw using digital medium or do you use traditional medium?

I draw using digital medium.

2. What tablet do you have?

Wacom Intuos 3.

3. What programs do you use?

I ink using Manga Studio EX4. I color with SAI. I do the post-processing in Adobe Photoshop CS2. Sometimes I also ink in SAI. AND I INCLUDE THIS PART IN MY DEVIATION’S DESCRIPTIONS.

4. I’d like to be able to ink like you do, please tell me what tool you used in Manga Studio to ink.

Telling you the tool I use won’t guarantee you’ll be able to ink like me, but anyway, I use the Maru Pen because I love how it responds to the pressure I apply with my stylus.

5. What tools do you use in SAI to color?

I use default tools, Pen, Water Brush, and Watercolor Brush. I only made some adjustments on their settings.

6. Can I know what brush settings you used?

No. I play around them doing random tweaks that even I don’t remember how I came up with them.

7. I like the textures you used. I’d like to know what texture you used on your drawing.

I used to work as a 3D Texture Artist, that’s why I have loads of free textures archived in my disk. I’m sure you can find a lot of awesome textures out there which are free, and if you are to use textures made by other artists, be sure to credit them. Most of the time, I create my own textures. I do that by playing with overlay layers and painting random patterns and brush blots then erasing them in SAI. It is a fun thing to do, you should try it.

8. Do you accept commissions?

Yes. But when I become very busy with work and I still have a lot of pending commissions, I temporarily stop accepting commissions. Please read my journals for my latest updates regarding commission requests.

9. What are commissions?

This question is really weird. Commissions are paid illustrations.

10. Do you accept free art requests?

No. That would be unfair to those who commissioned me. I do art requests for my friends but I ask them if they are interested and not the other way around.

11. Do you accept art trades?

No. Sorry.

12. Can you make a tutorial?

I suck at making tutorials, but I already did some process how-to’s on some of my illustrations. I put them in the “artist’s description” section of my deviations. It’s the area under the deviation title that has that pile of words that people don’t read. Please take time to read them before wasting your time typing your question.

13. I can’t find your tutorials ; w ;

14. Why won’t respond to our comments = ^ = ?

I am really grateful to receive a lot of comments on my illustrations. Whenever I see compliments, all I could ever think of is to say how thankful I am, but typing them for every compliment looks like it was awfully copy-pasted or a dishonest response >_>. I try to answer questions related to the illustration I uploaded, and I sometimes give my response to comments I can relate to.

15. This looks like _____ from ______ !!!!!!

16. Do you have your own artbook?

Our group, Ink Jar sold an artbook 3 years ago. Sadly the print was limited and we were not able to make re-prints of the book. Maybe some time soon, we’ll make a new artbook.

17. Do you have your own manga?

Yes, you can find it on the front page of my deviantART.

18. What course did you take? Did you study in an art school?

B.S. Computer Science. Nope, I did not study in an art school.

19. Nice hair, is that for real?

Thanks, yes it is. I bleach my hair then dye it red.

20. Why “wickedalucard”?

Because I really love Kouta Hirano’s Hellsing, and I like how much of a bad-ass Alucard is. And when I joined DA that was the first username I’ve thought of.

21. Can I use your illustration for my signature, blog, whatever? Or reblog your art?

No. But I guess I don’t have a choice. Just credit me or put a link redirecting to my gallery, and don’t claim it as your own~

22. We have started an independent group that dreams to make games / manga, would you be interested to join us. I will pay you when our game / manga sells. I’ll even share profit with you.

Cool but no thanks. You can commission me if you like.

23. Teach me!!
